Elemental Island Alchemy

A slow journey through Milos and Sifnos. Sculpted by Nature. Shaped by Craft.

Of Sea, Stone and Clay

Two islands, two distinct rhythms where volcanic landscapes, ancient crafts and everyday island life reveal another side of the Cyclades.

Beyond the familiar images of whitewashed villages and blue-domed churches, this journey explores two islands with very different characters. Milos, shaped by the sea and volcanic forces, and Sifnos, where pottery, food and craftsmanship remain deeply woven into local culture.

In Milos, discover a landscape shaped by the elements. White volcanic formations, sheltered coves and sea caves reveal themselves along a coastline best explored by boat. Spend time on the water, swim in secluded bays and discover the island’s culinary traditions through a private dining experience inspired by local ingredients and the people who prepare them.

In Sifnos, the pace shifts towards the island’s creative and cultural traditions. Visit a pottery workshop and discover a craft practised here for generations. Experience the island through its food, villages and walking paths, with opportunities to explore on foot, on horseback or simply at your own pace.

Together, these two islands offer a different perspective on the Cyclades — one discovered through their landscapes, traditions and the people who call them home.

Enjoy this journey privately designed, with dates and selected experiences tailored to your schedule.

DAY 1 - Plaka

First Impressions of Island Life

Arrive in Milos and settle into your accommodation, with time to unwind and take in your new surroundings.

Later in the afternoon, explore Plaka, the island’s hilltop capital, where narrow lanes, whitewashed houses and small churches lead to sweeping views across the Aegean. Wander through the village, discover its quieter corners and enjoy the changing light over the island’s volcanic landscape.

The evening introduces you to the flavours of Milos over a welcoming dinner featuring local ingredients and traditional island dishes. An opportunity to discover the island through its food, hospitality and the people who call it home.

DAY 2 - Milos by Sea

A Coastline Shaped by Nature

Discover Milos from the water, where volcanic activity has created one of the most remarkable coastlines in the Cyclades.

Travel by boat along dramatic cliffs, secluded coves and striking rock formations, visiting places such as Kleftiko, known for its white cliffs, sea caves and clear turquoise waters. Swim in sheltered bays, explore the coastline and enjoy time aboard as the island reveals a side largely inaccessible by road.

The experience offers a different perspective on Milos, where geology, sea and centuries of maritime history have shaped the island’s character.

Return in the afternoon, with the evening free to explore a waterfront taverna and enjoy freshly caught fish and local specialities.

DAY 3 - Sarakiniko & Klima

Volcanic Landscapes & Ancient Stories

Begin at Sarakiniko, where sculpted white volcanic rock stretches towards the sea, creating one of Milos’ most extraordinary natural landscapes. Walk among its unusual formations and discover how the island’s geological history continues to define its appearance.

Continue to the early Christian Catacombs and the ancient theatre, overlooking the bay, where traces of different civilisations reveal Milos’ long and layered past.

Nearby, visit Klima, a traditional fishing settlement known for its colourful syrmata — boat houses built directly at the water’s edge. Once essential to the island’s fishing community, these distinctive buildings remain part of its maritime identity.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy, perhaps with a swim, time at a nearby beach or an unhurried meal overlooking the sea.

DAY 4 - Milos to Sifnos

A Change of Pace, Two Islands, Different Traditions

Leave Milos and travel across the Aegean to Sifnos, an island celebrated for its pottery, culinary heritage and traditional Cycladic villages.

Although close geographically, the two islands reveal very different characters. Where Milos is defined by its volcanic coastline, Sifnos offers a landscape of terraced hillsides, stone pathways, cultivated valleys and settlements shaped by generations of island life.

After settling into your accommodation, explore Apollonia, the island’s lively capital, with its narrow pedestrian lanes, small shops and traditional architecture.

Depending on arrival time, continue towards Kastro, a historic fortified settlement perched above the sea. Its medieval passageways and closely built houses offer a fascinating introduction to the island’s history.

Enjoy the evening at leisure, discovering the welcoming tavernas and relaxed atmosphere of Sifnos.

DAY 5 - Sifnos

Pottery, People & Culinary Traditions

Discover the craftsmanship and culinary traditions that have made Sifnos distinctive among the Cycladic islands.

Visit a local pottery workshop, where generations of artisans have worked with the island’s clay to create practical and decorative ceramics. Meet a local potter, learn about the craft’s history and try your hand at shaping clay using traditional techniques.

Pottery is closely connected to the island’s food culture, with clay cooking vessels long used to prepare some of its best-known dishes.

Later, explore the culinary heritage of Sifnos through a cooking experience or traditional meal featuring seasonal ingredients and local recipes. Discover dishes such as revithada, the island’s slow-cooked chickpea speciality, and learn how food, craftsmanship and family traditions remain closely connected.

A day spent with the people who continue to preserve and share the island’s identity.

DAY 6 - Sifnos

Ancient Footpaths & Coastal Villages

Explore another side of Sifnos through its network of historic footpaths, once used to connect villages, monasteries, farmland and coastal settlements.

Choose a guided countryside walk through terraced landscapes and traditional villages, with opportunities to discover small chapels, rural architecture and views across the Aegean.

Alternatively, enjoy a gentle coastal experience, with time to explore a fishing village, swim in a sheltered bay or simply enjoy the island at your own pace.

For those interested in a different way of exploring, a horseback experience may be arranged, subject to local availability.

The afternoon is free before gathering for a farewell dinner, sharing the flavours and hospitality that have accompanied the journey through both islands.

DAY 7 - Sifnos to Pireaus

Departure From the Islands to the Mainland

Enjoy a final morning on Sifnos before travelling to Piraeus, bringing your island journey to a close.

Over seven days, you have experienced two contrasting expressions of the Cyclades, the volcanic landscapes and maritime history of Milos, and the craftsmanship, food traditions and village life of Sifnos.

For those wishing to discover more of Greece, the journey can continue with a privately designed stay in Athens or an exploration of the mainland’s historic towns, landscapes and cultural heritage.
